Susan Thomas

​Susan is a ceramic artist from Coral Gables in Florida and describes herself as a maker of functional low and mid fire pots. She received her BA in Art at the University of Miami and is an occasional instructor at The Ceramic League of Miami. She is former Featured Artist in the Miami Design Magazine, the Clay Times Magazine as well as Laguna Clay.

Her work is represented at the Craftsman House Gallery in St. Petersburg, Florida, The Big Cypress Gallery, Ochopee Florida, A Lily and A Sparrow, Medina, New York, Charlie Cummings Gallery, Gainesville, Florida and the Ogden Museum of Southern Art, New Orleans Louisiana.

​I strive to make everyday objects as beautiful and quirky as possible. I find great joy in the making and especially the glazing and decorating of each piece. While I like to make pots, I really, really love glazing them ... I often get lost in the decorating of the work and spend quite a lot of time contemplating the best possible result for each piece.  I hope the end user finds a spark of that joy and a bit of fun in each piece.
