“Put the Blues in Clay” is a juried ceramics exhibition hosted by MSClayworks 2023.
The show will consist of 30-40 ceramic artworks from Mississippi, Alabama, Louisiana, Arkansas, and Tennessee Clay Artists. The theme of the show offers an opportunity for clay artists to explore and express imagery in clay.
The theme is open to the interpretation of the artist. Blue as a color, theme, music terminology, etc. All associations with the term “Blue” will be considered. All ceramic genres: functional and nonfunctional as well as a variety of techniques are encouraged.
Show opening – Thursday, August 24, 2023 – 6:00 pm.
Closing reception – Friday, September 29, 2023.

- The show is open to all artists 18 years and older.
- Younger students may submit work under the supervision and note of permission of an adult.
- Work must fit in an 18” x 18” x 18” space.
- Up to 25% non-ceramics material is allowed.
- Pieces must weigh a maximum of 35 lbs.
- Any works for the wall must be ready to hang. Installations need to be accompanied by clear instructions and images.
- ALL ENTRY CORRESPONDENCE WILL BE HANDLED ONLINE.
- Register by August 10, 2023, with a non-refundable entry fee of $25 for up to 3 pottery works.
- Entries must be submitted along with the images to MSClayworks@yahoo.com
- Use captions on the images that correspond with your entered piece.
- One image for each entered piece.
- Image size (300 dpi in jpeg or jpg format).
- Artists may submit up to 1 detailed image for each entered piece.
- Submit entries by Thursday, August 10.
- Notification of acceptance will be made online Monday, August 14.
- Shipping and hand deliveries between August 18-23 (Drop-off place to be announced)
- Show installation and final judging August 23-24 - Late deliveries will be disqualified!
- Show open for public viewing: Thursday, August 24 at 6pm.
- Show awards announced: Thursday, August 24 during show opening. Opening remarks by Gail Morton.
- Closing: Friday, September 29
- Day of closing: Artists must sign their work out, remove it from the gallery, and/or arrange for pick up.
